Despite my username,my husband registered me with his own,I am a lady of 61. It started with researching our family history and then other people have asked me to solve mysteries in their families' past and so far I have found a first wife and a son who nobody knew existed and a granny who supposedly died very young who in fact ran off with a man. It is also true that as you get older you become invisible and you can poke about places without arousing suspicion and chat to people you don't know to find out things. Told you I was nosey!

Well done ampman, I wish I had the obility to do what you have done, I saw on a Documentary about Agatha Christie that Miss Marpl,e was named after a place I have lkooked on the net and think it must be Marple Hall which is in Stockton, it is a Language School so it might have been the inspiration of 'Cat Among The Pigeons'. You ncould always change your username if you don't like it, I changed mine once and sometimes think of changing it again.

I sometimes think of changing my user name too- but I usually don't since I have had this user name for so long....Decisions, Decisions. What would you Winne, and apmman change your 'names' too?

Sure they can change their names, 3rdGirl. Everybody has a right to do that. If they don't want to "go missing" as you say they can always tell us what their new names are going to be before they change their names. A user named HarleyBarley did it I seem to remember and I suppose that was fine.

As I said 3rd Girl I have done it before but I admit I can't remember if it was before or after the siute changed, and you could always tell people who you were before so people would know who you are just as long as from then they referred to you by your nr=ew name.

LOL! That was funny, 3rd Girl. I see your point. But I kinda would like to change it to Bundle since she is my favorite AC character. I would most likely start a topic before I changed my name saying which name I was changing it to. Another reason would be is that sometimes other users think that I am a male because of my username, when I am in fact female.

And Winne you changed your name before the site change. I remember you used to be called Starkwilder.

I've always been a "detective" at heart, and now, like you, I am using it for family history.  I've found that stories told within families aren't always solid truth, and some are downright fabrications.  Nothing remains hidden forever.  Like you also, I've solved problems for others.  Could I possibly be related to the people whose granny ran off with another man?  My great-grandmother supposedly "died young" but I found her more than 20 years later with one of her new husbands.  The woman really got around!

For sure, we'd make Agatha Christie and Miss Marple proud.  I think Dame Agatha for peaking my mystery skills, as I've been reading her books for nearly 50 years.
