Miss Marple’s old friend Dolly Bantry has heard some news about one of the village girls who threw herself off a bridge and drowned; the poor girl had discovered she was pregnant. Miss Marple doesn’t believe it was suicide and is sure she knows the name of the murderer...

This story, first published in 1931 in Nash’s Pall Mall Magazine, contains only four of the characters from The Tuesday Night Club. It first appeared in book form in the collection The Thirteen Problems.

It has never been adapted.
