Peril at End House
Hercule Poirot’s relaxing holiday on the Cornish coast takes an unexpected turn when he meets young and pretty Nick Buckley. For it seems to Poirot that someone is trying to kill Nick and he determines that she needs his protection. But even hiding her away in a nursing home does not prevent another attempt on Nick’s life and Poirot has to resort to subterfuge and cunning to solve this tricky case.
First published in 1932, the novel was adapted by Arnold Ridley and Bernard Merrivale for the stage and opened at the Vaudeville Theatre in London on May 1, 1940. It was adapted for television in 1990 by LWT in England and presented in a two-hour production, the first of a new series to mark the centenary year, starring David Suchet as Hercule Poirot. The novel was dedicated to Agatha Christie's friend Eden Phillpotts who helped her start writing as a young woman and introduced her to his publishers, Hughes Massie.
