And Then There Were None

The latest incarnation of Christie’s masterpiece, And Then There Were None, returns to the dark roots of the story. Written by Sarah Phelps and with a stellar cast behind it, this adaptation is one not to be missed.

Overview

1939. Europe teeters on the brink of war. Ten strangers are invited to Soldier Island, an isolated rock near the Devon coast. Cut off from the mainland, with their generous hosts Mr and Mrs U.N. Owen mysteriously absent, they are each accused of a terrible crime. When one of the party dies suddenly they realise they may be harbouring a murderer among their number.

This adaptation, written by Sarah Phelps and directed by Craig Viveiros, was the first screen adaptation of And Then There Were None to include Agatha Christie's original ending. The illustrious cast includes Douglas Booth as Anthony Marston, Charles Dance as Justice Lawrence Wargrave, Maeve Dermody as Vera Claythorne, Burn Gorman as William Blore, Anna Maxwell Martin as Ethel Rogers, Sam Neill as General John MacArthur, Miranda Richardson as Miss Emily Brent, Toby Stephens as Dr Edward Armstrong, Noah Taylor as Thomas Rogers and Aidan Turner as Philip Lombard.

This outrageously talented cast is matched by mesmerising production values and an attention to period details that beggars belief. It must surely be the best Christie adaptation yet made for television.
