Agatha Christie - "I care about my book covers."

Academics at Exeter University have spent the last two days championing Christie's business acumen at Agatha Christie: Hidden Horizons, a conference being held at the University. A newly released letter from Christie to her publisher demonstrates the care that she took to market her books. When Collins Crime Club proposed to use a cover for Sad Cypress that she describes as "common" and "awful", Christie took to her literary agent to complain. She asked for the book cover to be reprinted with a classic cover stating "I care about the appearance of my books."
