Being the best-selling novelist of all time, it’s no surprise that Agatha Christie, her fictional sleuths and famous stories have been mentioned in a wide variety of TV programmes, books, games and songs over time. We’ve pulled together some of the most varied references to the Queen of Crime that we’ve discovered.

In Andy Weir’s novel, The Martian, Mark Watney (who the story follows) is stuck on Mars and reads Agatha Christie’s The Mysterious Affair at Styles to entertain himself.

Family Guy created a parody of And Then There Were None in an episode titled And Then There Were Fewer. Almost of all of the residents of fictional town Quahog are invited to a party in a mysterious house. When guests start to be murdered, it's up to the remaining guests to figure out who is behind the killings.

There are a few humorous nods to fictional detectives in the game Sherlock Holmes The Awakened, one being to Hercule Poirot who appears as a young boy on a train.

Rapper Eminem name-checks Agatha Christie in his 2016 song Campaign Speech, describing his confusion over why so many rappers mock him being as hard to solve as the plot twists in Agatha Christie’s mystery novels.

On the television show Frasier, Frasier's father's favourite chair is donated to a high school for their production of And Then There Were None and the only way that Frasier can get the chair back is if he takes on the role of Dr. Armstrong in the play.

Poet Dylan Thomas was famously quoted saying “poetry is not the most important thing in life…I’d much rather lie in a hot bath reading Agatha Christie and sucking sweets.”

An episode of Doctor Who (The Unicorn and the Wasp) evolves around the Doctor landing the Tardis in England where he meets ‘Agatha Christie’ at a dinner party. In true Christie style, the comedic episode is rooted in a murder-mystery storyline.
